Two Much: Tia and Tamera's Struggle for Personal Style

Tamera and Tia Mowry
Growing up with twin sisters of my own, I couldn't wait to ask our latest guest editor, Sister, Sister star Tia Mowry, if she and twin sister Tamera ever struggled to find their own unique style as kids. "Ohmigod!" she squealed, as though I'd just discovered a secret she'd long been dying to tell. "Yes! Nobody ever asks us that!" I knew it.
As a twin, you're always fighting for your own persona. Tamera and I dressed alike until high school! I remember on the first day of 9th grade, walking up the stairs to school and we were dressed alike, Tamera wouldn't stand next to me. I was like, 'Whoa, she wants to be her own person.'As we all know, becoming your person takes time and practice—and loads of experimentation. Couple those normal growing pains with living your life on set, away from normal kid stuff, and you're bound to make some mistakes. Tia laughs at some of her looks back in the day, describing her old jogging suits and Nike sneakers as "ghetto chic."

But all not-so-good things must come to end. Tia began to find herself in college, and afterward while traveling abroad. It was in London where she bought her first true designer outfit—a silk blazer and leather pants—and in Italy where she learned the real power of fashion:
In Italy, my eyes were just opened. I thought, 'I want to be sexy.'
Mission accomplished.
