London Fashion Week came and went in a flash, leaving us with even more Spring 2015 collections to admire. While the designs won't be hitting stores until next year (and even then will likely be sold at exorbitant prices), we figured the best takeaway from the runway would be tips you can use on the wardrobe you already have. Read on for creative highlights from the London shows and have fun playing dress up.
Wear a Denim Jacket as a Top
Jean jackets have long been closet go-tos for light outerwear, but Burberry Prorsum introduced a different way of wearing it. Instead of showing off what's underneath, pick a fitted denim style and button it all the way up as a shirt. Recently we spotted street style darling Lily Kwong rocking this look, so it's officially It Girl-approved.

This curious choice appeared at multiple collections, including Markus Lupfer, Fyodor Golan and Antipodium, and made a common styling trick (unbuttoning a button down) do a 180. Leaving the last buttons opened looks relaxed and invites creative layering—for instance, showing off more print from a high waisted skirt. It's also a fresh way to reveal a toned tummy without getting into played-out crop top territory.

Designers such as Richard Nicoll and House of Holland sent models down the catwalk with tank tops and T-shirts as unexpectedly part of the ensemble. Whether you're in a dress or slacks, the plain shirt can be used to pile on colors (as seen at J.W. Anderson) or dress down a rather fancy get-up.
