It's the way the garments are put together and presented that makes us feel like running home and experimenting with our own wardrobes, immediately. To help you breathe new life into your own closet, we're highlighting four of our favorite styling tricks that we spotted on the Spring 2015 runways.

Pair Stripes with Florals

Ever since we spotted this pin that's made the rounds on Pinterest, we've been smitten with this unexpected combination of bold patterns. Imagine our excitement when we spotted the print mix at both Alice + Olivia and Trina Turk's Spring 2015 presentations. The key to nailing this look is by keeping the stripes on top of the florals, lest you get overpowered by the multicolored blooms.

We'd noticed celebs and street style stars layer pants beneath skirts in the past, and now designers such as Rebecca Taylor, Marissa Webb and Noon By Noor are taking this styling trick to the next level by layering skirts beneath sheaths. To pull this move off, opt for a slightly sheer, floaty skirt and a more structured or streamlined dress so that the bottom tier not only adds dimension but movement. It's also essential that the skirt be a few inches longer than your frock's hemline.

When fall weddings roll around, we're never quite sure how to keep warm without overshadowing our gowns. While pashminas and cardigans are viable options, we've never been huge fans of the prim look, but luckily we found a glam alternative at Dennis Basso's Spring 2015 runway show. The fur king showed his signature textile in vest form, thrown over gorgeous beaded evening dresses both long and short. We love that this layer not only adds warmth but texture, and that its fanciness is on par with the frocks.

A ballgown skirt may seem archaic and impractical for today's woman, but Christian Siriano and Erin Fetherston had us thinking differently after we saw the below looks, respectively, at their shows. When paired with a basic crewneck sweater, tank or tee, the full silhouette looks clean, impossibly modern and—dare we say—even office appropriate.
