Behnaz Sarafpour Fall 2011 Full disclosure: We kind of, sort of snuck into Behnaz Sarafpour's Fall 2011 presentation during New York Fashion Week. (A Chloe vs. Khloe mixup worked to our advantage. Never mind.) Was it worth it? Absolutely. Sarafpour's fall collections ended up being one of our favorites of the season!
Artfully straddling the line between feminine and edgy, every piece was elegant but irreverently so—a sequined gown gets a tough leather bodice, while a gray tweed shift has a daring cutout back. Intricate and unexpected details drew us in for a closer look.
Sarafpour's use of uncommon textures shone against her mostly neutral palette of black, gray, cream and pale blue. The presentation format was perfect: We got up close and personal with the edgy rubberized lace used to trim skirts and an asymmetrical crosshatch bodice.
All in all, Behnaz's fall collection stood out. Not because it yelled from the highest rooftop, but because it whispered alluringly. Those in the know will seek out what makes each piece amazing; those who don't may miss out.
