We here at StyleBistro are big proponents of enjoying the little things in life—from a tasty treat to a fresh manicure. So we decided to pair two of our favorite indulgences for a new series we're calling Sips and Tips
. In these deliciously fun articles, we'll share with you a recipe for one of our favorite drinks of the moment, as well as a manicure inspired by the beverage of choice. Think of it as just another way to incorporate personal style into every aspect of your life.
Last week we shared with you a tasty cocktail to get you in the Thanksgiving spirit
, and this week we're sharing with you one of our favorite cold-day treats: spiked hot chocolate. But this isn't just any old hot chocolate. This toasty drink uses Baileys
Vanilla Cinnamon to add a sweet touch. To match the decadence of this delicious drink, we enlisted the help of the nail pros at the beauty booking app PRIV
—who sent an artist right to our offices!—to get this double-the-fun manicure we're calling The Double-Dip Mani. Get the details on both the sip and the tip, below.Snug as a Mug, $15, at ModCloth (Source: Dana Burke/StyleBistro)The Sip:
Vanilla Cinnamon Spiked Hot ChocolateIngredients:
Two ounces Baileys Vanilla Cinnamon
Four ounces homemade hot chocolate
Whipped Cream (optional)
One cozy mug (We're partial to this snug sweater mug from ModCloth
Prepare hot chocolate in a mug and stir with a spoon as usual. Add two ounces of Baileys Vanilla Cinnamon. Stir until mixed. Top with a dollop of whipped cream and dust with a pinch of ground cinnamon. Enjoy! The Tip:
The Double-Dip ManicureTools:
Chocolate-colored polish like Sinful Colors #949 Nirvana
A sparkly cocoa shade like China Glaze Getting to Gnaw You
Favorite topcoat(Source: Art by Tanya Leigh Washington)Directions:
This look is so simple yet elegant and only uses two nail colors. First, apply a coat of your favorite basecoat. Let dry. Next, apply two coats of the brown hue. Our PRIV expert used "Nirvana" to mimic the rich decadence of chocolate. Let dry. Next apply a thin strip of glitter polish like China Glaze "Getting to Gnaw You" on one side of the inside portion of the nail. If lines don't come out perfectly, our pro suggests taking the first brown color and removing excess polish off the brush, then cleaning up the glitter line on the nail. Finally, use a topcoat on free edge first and then the nail art to make the mani last.
