After much speculation, Clarence House today announced the engagement of Prince William to Kate Middleton. The couple will get married in either the Spring or Summer of next year and continue to live in North Wales while Prince William works as an air sea rescue pilot for the RAF. The couple became engaged during a recent holiday in Kenya having been together for eight years. (Getty Images)more pics » Sarah Burton, is that you?
The latest buzz to hit the interwebs is that Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton
was spotted at the Goring Hotel where Kate Middleton
is staying the night and prepping for her trip down the aisle. She was spotted exiting a cab, covered up in a huge cap to conceal her face. Burton would presumably be at the hotel to assist Kate with final fittings and getting dressed.
But there's more.
What could be better than McQueen, you say? Rumor has it that not only is Kate Middleton's wedding dress from the house of McQueen, but that it was designed by Alexander McQueen himself—a vintage design or lifted from a sketch.
Fashionista reports that the Daily Mirror
‘s Mark Jefferies tweeted, “Sarah Burton seen in Goring hotel, but heard rumour from other journo design is by McQueen himself, so could be vintage or from his sketches!" while the Telegraph
‘s Bryony Gordon said, “Top fashion source just msged to confirm that [Jefferies's] tweet. Apparently the dress is a vintage McQueen design.”
Our bet is this gorgeous, yet still refined to suit Kate's style, gown from McQueen's last collection for Fall 2010.
Please, oh please say she's wearing Alexander McQueen. Even the gals at the Bistro who are praying for this wedding to be over are hoping for McQueen.
UPDATE: Kate did in fact select Alexander McQueen. See the pictures here:
