Most Miss America contestants use the talent portion of the pageant to showcase their singing and dancing skills, but Miss Colorado Kelley Johnson went with something totally unexpected: an original monologue.
And no, the Miss America hopeful wasn't up there acting out a play she wrote. And she didn't wear anything sparkly and sexy. Instead, Johnson gave an emotional talk about a turning point in her nursing career — while wearing her scrubs and stethoscope.
Try not to get a little misty-eyed while listening to the story about her interactions with an Alzheimer's patient:
Johnson ended up second runner up at the end of the night, while Miss Georgia Betty Cantrell took the tiara, but she definitely won the hearts of viewers around the globe with her touching words.
Way to go, Nurse Kelley!
