When it comes to hobbies, some people like to knit, but Giuliana Rancic likes to run. Five days a week at the gym for an hour and a half is Giuliana's routine. But don't think you have to drag her kicking and screaming—she likes to go!
When we chatted with Giuliana, our latest celebrity guest editor, she said changing her attitude about going to the gym helped her overcome her negative feelings. Once she "stopped looking at working out as a hassle and [started thinking of it as] more of a hobby, that helped." But working out isn't the only thing Giuliana does to stay in shape. She's also slowly becoming vegan! Giuliana says: I don't eat processed foods if I can avoid them. I'm trying to become vegan one step at a time, so I've cut out red meat. Animal products wreak all kinds of havoc on your body, I've learned. I just read a book called Veganist, by Cathy Friedman. It's such a great book, and it's so true, about how all these diseased are brought on by animal-based diets. So I've tried to cut that out and we'll see where that takes me.
Giuliana also constantly eats small portions of food throughout the day. The smaller portions are more easily digested by her body as well as keeping her constantly energized, something she needs given all the things she's doing! She says: I eat 200-300 calories at a time because I recently read that you're body can only digest about 200 or 250 calories an hour. So when we sit down and we eat 800 calories, the rest of the calories are going straight to your ass. So I try to really break it up throughout the day and I find that I'm never hungry anymore, ever, and I have so much energy throughout the day. And I don't gain weight because of it. It's kind of great.
