Fashion Trend Report: Neon Brights

Prepare to get noticed in this surprising fall trend.

When we think of fall colors, we often imagine dark, moody tones or rich evergreen hues; we do not think neon. Nevertheless, designers surprised show-goers during Fall 2014 Fashion Week by sending dresses, coats and separates in these bright hues down their runways. The key to these bold colors is that they are decidedly not the garish tones we saw in the '80s, but bursts of color at a level of palatable brightness.

Designer Raf Simons lit up the Dior runway with layered dresses in vibrant hues. Altuzarra showed robe coats that featured bright panels of pink and Emanuel Ungaro created tops and skirts in neon lime tones.

Never the group to leave a trend untried, celebs have taken the neon look for a spin both on and off the red carpet. Actress Kate Mara wore the exact Dior dress shown above for the Creative Emmy Awards. Socialite and TV personality Tinsley Mortimer attended an H&M event in a bright lime dress. Style star Olivia Palermo and actress Reese Witherspoon both chose neon brights for running errands.
