Ever since Marissa Webb became the creative director of Banana Republic last April, the mass retailer has been making more sophisticated strides—it's even showing at Fashion Week this February for the first time ever—but its latest development might just be our favorite.
Later this month, the chain will debut Banana Republic Mini, a limited-edition baby collection ($24–$198) for tykes 12 months and younger. “I began to notice that many of my friends are expecting, and I want to give them a very personal gift,” says Webb, who designed the 13-piece range herself. "With pieces that are not only fashionable, but also cozy for playtime, you’ll want them in your own size!”
That last bit is no lie—the clothing and accessories are made from ultra-soft fabrics such as cashmere, terrycloth and cotton, and come in a chic, gender-neutral palette of gray, cream and black. We're weak in the knees over the cashmere intarsia aviator hat, the fisherman's sweater with matching pants and the various skull-bedecked garments. But don't take our word for it—check out the too-cute-to-handle assortment for yourself:
The Banana Republic Mini collection will be available exclusively at Banana Republic's Flatiron store in New York City on February 18 and online starting February 25. Mark your calendars, because we can see these babies flying off the shelves.
