Talk about counting your swans before they've hatched. Not only will the Mulleavy sisters not win an Oscar for their Black Swan
costumes, but neither will lead costume designer Amy Westcott. The film has been snubbed, without a nomination in the costume design category.
We have several theories:
- Perhaps all the negative buzz surrounding the costume credits put a dark shadow over the brilliance of the work.
- Maybe the costumes weren't dazzling enough. Compared to the other nominees, Black Swan's dramatic moments were focused at the very end of the film.
- It's possible all the costume hype was centered within the fashion industry and the rest of the world didn't really care at all.
