When
Isaac Mizrahi isn't busy making designers cry on
Project Runway All Stars, the sassy sartorialist is working on a new clothing line for babies.
The newlywed designer just announced a partnership with leading baby wear brand bon bébé, and says they're a perfect match. "We are all on the same page," he said to
WWD. "We didn’t have to sit in a room for hours. We knew exactly the niche we were going after.”
Children's wear is practically in Mizrahi's DNA. The designer's father was head of Rydal Manufacturing, a boys' apparel line, and Ellie Fishman, a popular kids' wear designer, served as Mizrahi's mentor for decades.
The 25-piece baby collection will be available in department and specialty stores, with a children's line to be added in the future. If your pint-sized fashionista doesn't fall into the Isaac Mizrahi aesthetic, don't fret. Plenty of other high-fashion designers have created luxury childrens' lines:
Lanvin,
Roberto Cavalli,
Dolce & Gabbana,
Christian Louboutin,
Marc Jacobs,
Burberry, and
Gucci all make kid-size clothing.
Worth noting: Mizrahi made this industry announcement mere days after the birth of
Jay-Z and
Beyonce's baby girl,
Blue Ivy Carter. Coincidence? We think not.
