looked trend-happy on the red carpet at this weekend's Breakthrough of the Year Awards: Rose smiled through elegant, matte-red lips.
Matte red lips are an homage to decades past. The flat finish is a little harder to wear than a glossy one, so first you must get your lips in shape:
- Scrub-a-dub-dub. Matte lipsticks show dry skin more than glossy ones do. Use a toothbrush or lip scrub to let new skin shine through.
- Pick the right shade. Cool skin tones should choose a red with a hint of blue, while warmer tones should go for hints of orange—think fire-engine red.

- Line your lips. Since red lipstick tends to bleed, begin with a matching lip liner. Then, fill in with your lipstick of choice.
