Katerina Graham deserves a gold star for her successful foray into jewel-embellished eyes at this year's Teen Choice Awards. While many of the young stuck to their same neutral summer palette, it was refreshing to see Katerina push the envelope with playful rhinestones and bright fuschia lips.
If you're under 25 and aching for a jazzy new look, bedazzled lids may be the trend for you. Here are a few tips to hit the trend on the head:
- Keep it Simple. Keep your jewels to a minimum—single digits is a good rule thumb.You don't want people to be blinded by your face!
- Keep 'em small. You'll get the most impact with several small stones, rather than a couple big ones. Stick to stones with a diameter of 5mm or less.
- Avoid shapes. Cosmetic jewels come in many forms, including pre-made shapes. But unless you're of the pre-teen set, please avoid those flowers, hearts and butterflies!
- Don't use super glue. This may seem like a no-brainer, but super glue is not to be used anywhere on your body. Eyelash glue is the best adhesive for getting the jewels to stick.
- Have fun! If you're going to be putting jewels on, you should have fun with them. Try out several colors and sizes like Katerina did.
