Casual parties are get-togethers at houses or at a bar or casual neighborhood restaurant. The dress code is relaxed and the atmosphere friendly. It never hurts to get a little dolled up, so leave the sweats at home. A casual dress is perfect for this type of event, paired with flat sandals or chunky heels. You can also wear jeans, dressed up a little with a flirty top and paired with ballet flats. If you've got great gams, why not try some dress shorts paired with a blazer and silk shirt? If the party is during the night, add some jazzy jewelry and heels for a flirty look.

Semi-formal parties are officially no-jeans zones—sorry. You can wear pants, but make sure they're dress slacks or something similar. Heels are preferred, but leave the chunky daytime sandals at home. Short dresses or cocktail dresses are de rigeur. Dress your outfit up with some sparkly jewelry and you're all set!

Formal parties or black tie events automatically mean gowns. Sometimes you can get away with something shorter, but nothing above the knee. There's a wide range of gowns to choose from. Style doesn't have to be expensive and you can often find timeless pieces at outlet malls or cute selections at places like Forever21. BCBG is a great place to go for mid-range gowns that have oodles of style, but won't break the bank. '
