Rodarte and Universal Standard just answered your fashion prayers. The two brands joined forces to launch a four-piece capsule collection which offers sizes that range from 00-40 — with each item priced under $240. A collaboration that features sizes for all women and it's affordable? Yes, please. Founded by Alexandra Waldman and Polina Veksler in 2015, Universal Standard's goal is clear: " We wanted a size 26 [women] to shop in the same way as a size 6," the founders stated on their website.
The high-fashion brand, Rodarte, was created by sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy and has been seen numerous times on the red carpet thanks to A-listers who are well-known fans of the brand. Think: Kirsten Dunst, Brie Larson, and Emma Stone, to name a few. The label's ethereal pieces are highly coveted amongst fashion-lovers everywhere, but with a couture price tag it's not the most accessible. Which is why this collaboration has us excited in more ways than one.
The partnership not only allows women to shop at affordable prices, but it also changes the game when it comes to size-inclusivity — something Universal Standard explained on their decision to team up with Rodarte, "We wanted to get people involved who were not part of the inclusivity and diversity movement per se but who we felt might be interested in raising their hands and saying, ‘This is great, and this is the right thing to do.’ Rodarte was at the top of our list," Veksler told Vogue.
You can shop the line on Universal Standard's site — but be prepared to drop some cash because you're going to want everything. A few of our favorite pieces? A ruffled black jumpsuit, red midi-skirt, and baby pink chiffon blouse that has the Rodarte aesthetic written all over it. We applaud the brands for embracing women of all sizes and offering clothes that don't sacrifice style for the sake of catering to someone who's larger than a size 0 (which is a lot of women, FYI). Now, if you'll excuse us, we're going to shop the collection before it undoubtedly sells out.
