It's a huge night for Brie Larson! She just won the Best Actress honor for her remarkable performance in Room and if you didn't already know about the incredibly talented star, here's what you should know:
1. 'Brie Larson' is her stage name.
The name on the star's birth certificate is actually Brianne Sidonie Desaulniers. It's French and the actress said she was sick of everyone butchering her last name even before she was famous, so she decided to change it. She claims she picked the surname Larson because she was obsessed with her American Girl doll Kirsten Larson as a kid. Boom.
2. Her first showbiz gig was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Back in 1998, Larson's first TV gig was performing in sketches on the Tonight Show. After that, she landed on the sitcom Raising Dad with Bob Saget, though it was canceled after the first season.
3. She was in a Disney Channel Original Movie with Beverly Mitchell.
Right on Track was based on the true story of sister drag racers. It debuted in March 2003, so almost 13 years ago. Just look at Larson's cute freckles from back then:
4. She's also a musician.
Larson released her only album, Finally Out of P.E., in 2005 and then toured with Jesse McCartney for Teen People's Rock in Shop Tour. One of her songs was also used in the Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus video credits.
Here's the video for her tune "She Said."
5. She's taken.
If Larson wins the Oscar tonight, she'll probably be thanking boyfriend Alex Greenwald in her acceptance speech (she did so at the Golden Globes this year already).
It's unclear how long these two have been dating, but they sure are smitten. Larson recently told Entertainment Tonight: "Oh man, I mean, he's the other half of the equation — how can you explain support? I mean, it goes beyond anything. He's just my person, he's my best friend." Aww.
