Relationship Goals: Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson Celebrate 28 Valentine's Days Together

These two have set the bar high for Hollywood couples and everyone else.

We adore Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan. Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are the cutest. Emily Blunt and John Krasinski seem to be happy as can be with a second baby on the way. All of these couples are examples of what seem to be fantastic Hollywood love stories, but it's going to take a few more decades before they reach Tom Hank and Rita Wilson status.

They have been married for 28 years, which is like four eternities when you're famous. And they're still going strong. Wilson posted a sweet snapshot on Facebook on Valentine's Day that restored serious faith in our belief in celebrity love. "28 years with my Valentine," she captioned the shot.

So sweet!

It's amazing to think how much these two have grown together over those 28 years.

They started dating around 1986, which was when Hanks and his first wife Samantha Lewes divorced, after meeting on the set of Bosom Buddies. A year before, they starred in the movie Volunteers together — alongside John Candy.

In 1988, they tied the knot. Wilson rocked this white mini dress for the occasion.

Now fast forward almost three decades and these two have shared countless milestones together. They are parents to two sons, they played best friends in Sleepless in Seattle, they celebrated Hanks' back-to-back Oscars in the '90s, and more recently Hanks supported his wife through breast cancer treatment.

Wilson was diagnosed in 2015 and shared that going through a mastectomy and beating the disease even brought them closer. "You never know how your spouse is going to react in a situation like this," she told the New York Times. "I was so amazed, so blown away by the care my husband gave me ... who knew it would make you even closer?"

Time and time again these two claim there isn't a secret formula for a successful marriage — especially one in Hollywood — but Hanks has told Oprah this:

The success of our relationship was a matter of timing, maturity, and our willingness to have an intimate connection. When I married Rita, I thought, 'This is going to require some change on my part.' I won't deny that providence was part of us finding each other, but our relationship isn't magic — the way it's shown in movies. In real life, our connection is as concrete as me sitting here. Not that marriage doesn't come close to being hell in a handbasket sometimes. But we both know that no matter what, we'll be with each other — and we'll get through it.
