Everybody, gird your loins—Miranda Priestly is back!
It's been 10 years since author Lauren Weisberger first introduced us to the amicable Andy Sachs and, of course, her unforgettable Prada-wearing boss from hell, the Editor-in-Chief of Runway
magazine, in a classic tale of girl lands dream job, girl hates dream job, girl quits dream job—which later turned into a movie, taught us the important differences among turquoise (sorry, cerulean) belts, and yada, yada. You know the drill. (And re-watch it every. single. time.
one of your 150 cable channels happens to be airing it.)
Well, now we finally (!!!) know what Andy's been up to all these years since she famously chucked her Sidekick into that Paris fountain.
Landing in stores today is Weisberger's sequel to The Devil Wears Prada
, a 381-page update on Andy, Emily, Nigel, and yup, Miranda, aptly titled Revenge Wears Prada
. (Foreshadow much?) Here's a little synopsis of what goes down in the sequel:
"It's been years since Andy fetched coffee for the world's most demanding boss. She had matured and is at the top of her game writing and reporting to her heart's content as co-founder of The Plunge, a wildly successful high fashion bridal magazine launched with Miranda's other ex-assisant, Emily.
Once sworn enemies, Andy and Emily found they had one powerful thing in common: their hatred of Miranda. Uniting forces to create The Plunge meant that each would finally get to call the shots in creating the ultimate go-to magazine for the young and stylish. And it didn't hurt they could drop Miranda's name to secure the most in vogue celebrity brides for their pages.
Reuniting with Emily also introduced Andy to Max Harrison, the fabulously wealthy son of one of New York City's most elite families and heir to a media empire. Not only is Max one of the original investors for The Plunge, he's the love of Andy's life. Engaged to the city's most eligible bachelor just as her career is igniting, Andy is living the dream. But as the saying goes, all that glitters is not gold.
The morning of her wedding, Andy discovers a secret letter from Max's mother with crushing implications. Suddenly nothing—not her husband nor her beloved job—is as it seems. Co-owning the hottest magazine on the market doesn't come without its snares... and the magazine world is a small one."
Ruh roh: Andy just can't
catch a break can she? (Then again, she owns a magazine, sooo...) Either way, we know what we're stashing in our beach bag this weekend. You?Revenge Wears Prada
