How often should you wash your hair? Let us know!
When it comes to hair care, there is one question we hear over and over again: How often should you wash your hair?
Many of us grew up under the strict hygienic rules of Baby Boomer mothers who taught us to wash our hair daily. (Gals with fine, thin, oily locks—like yours truly—were advised to shampoo and repeat.) But let's face it gals, we're not kids anymore. Busy modern women don't have time for so much fuss! Being low maintence equals lots more free time.
So, how often should you wash your hair? Well, that depends on you. Since regular shampooing can strip healthy, natural oils from your locks and scalp, women with dry, colored and curly hair can get by with washing just once a week. If you're hair is oily tends to go limp quickly, shampooing every other day is probably best.
In doubt? Just ask Oprah! She posed the question, How often should you wash your hair?, to Ken Paves—stylist to such stars as Jessica Simpson and Eva Longoria Parker. Here's what he had to say: Certain hair types and textures only require washing once a week, where others work well washing 2 to 3 times a week.”
And there you have it, ladies. An expert answer to that age-old burning question: How often should you wash your hair!
