When we first heard about color-changing lip gloss, we briefly thought we were overhearing a conversation from 1998. But upon further research, and by research we mean a trip to Sephora, we discovered color-changing lip glosses are in fact a thing of 2015.

But don't expect mood-predicting abilities here, you'll still have use series of emojis to communicate your feelings just like the rest of us. These aren't your trusty mood ring, either. These products have science behind them.

These lip-loving shades boast a formula that, when applied, causes a chemical reaction with your skin's pH. That reaction then causes a slight color change and creates a seemingly unique lip color. And while you can't expect too dramatic of a change—we're not going from red to purple, here—an enhanced shade of pink based on your unique pH is still pretty exciting. We found three options at various price points to make your childhood dreams an adult reality.
