The No-Brainer Makeup Trend Taking Over Red Carpets

Take the guesswork out of color coordinating your lips and your lids with this celebrity-approved beauty look.

Gone are the days of worrying if your choice in bright lipstick is going to clash with your jewel-toned eyeshadow. From movie premieres to fashion shows, we've been noticing a trend in Hollywood's beauty routine that simplifies the way you think about your color palette. Instead of going for two different hues for your lips and your lids, opt for the same shade in eyeshadow and lipstick for an incredibly chic and easy makeup look.

Zoe Kravitz's single pigment look at the "Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art included a berry-kissed pout and a maroon smoky eye. The actress took the look one step further by matching her dress color, as well.

The always beautiful Jennifer Lopez went for a metallic combination, choosing an orange-bronze lipstick paired with an equally shimmery shadow.

Compared to the previous dramatic looks, Rita Ora kept her choices soft for this trend. A nude lip and a swipe of soft pink over the lids is all she needed for a fresh-looking face.

At the Christian Dior Haute Couture show in Paris, Elizabeth Olsen decided to pair a natural eye and mauve gloss for an effortlessly stylish appearance that complements her green eyes.

The best part about this trend is that it easily translates for both day and night. J. Lo's glam shimmer would go great with a hot LBD out on the town, while Zoe Kravitz's raspberry duo is a sultry option for date night. Try a ballerina-inspired lip and lid like songstress Rita Ora for a pretty daytime look, or opt for the youngest Olsen's wear-anywhere shade for makeup that works for both the office and whatever the night has in store.
